AI Policy

This page is a plain account of how our books are made. There is no AI in the app or the website. People invent and shape the stories. AI tools help them write, illustrate and narrate, so we can offer a large catalogue of books families can enjoy.

In short

  • There is no AI in the Funky Fables app or website. Stories are finished before they reach you.
  • Our books are made by people, using AI tools for drafts of text, pictures and narration.
  • People choose the story, direct the work, review every page and approve a book before it is published.
  • We do not give AI tools your family’s information, and we do not use that information to train AI.

1. How our books are made

Our aim is a large catalogue of enjoyable stories. That takes a studio of people with a lot of books to make. AI is one of the tools in that studio.

We use it while creating books to help with:

  • Story text, drafted from ideas, outlines and direction written by us;
  • Illustrations, generated from art direction and prompts that we write and refine; and
  • Narration, created with synthetic voices. The voices you hear are generated. They are not recordings of a person reading the book.

2. People tell the stories

People drive the content. AI does not invent a Funky Fables book on its own. It is a set of tools and utilities that help a person tell the story they want to tell.

  • We set the concept, characters, tone, reading level and the lesson or feeling of each story.
  • We write the outlines, direct the artwork and voice, and reject, redo and edit the results until they are right.
  • Every page is reviewed for age-appropriateness, accuracy, safety, kindness, spelling and visual quality, and the audio is listened to against the text.
  • A story is published only after a person has approved it. If something is wrong after publishing, we fix or remove it.

We take responsibility for everything in Funky Fables, however it was made. If you spot something that does not look right, please tell us at support@funkyfables.com.

3. Getting the pictures right

AI-generated images can come out with odd effects: a warped object, an extra finger, a face that does not quite sit right. We work hard to stop those reaching a book.

For each illustration we create several versions, compare them, and process and edit the strongest until it is fit for a children’s book. The picture you see is the one a person chose, not the first one the tool produced.

4. Building Funky Fables

We also use AI tools while we develop the website and the apps: writing code, drafting copy and other studio work. Those tools stay with us. They are not part of the product you or your child use.

5. Your family’s data

We do not send account holder emails, child profile details or listening history to AI tools, and we do not allow AI providers to use anything of ours that involves your family to train their models. See our Privacy Policy.

6. Ownership

The stories, narration and artwork are ours. Our Terms explain that you may listen to them but may not copy them or use them to train AI. See also Copyright and Content Protection.
